Pakistan Rescues All Surviving Crew Members After Somalia Pirate Attack
The Palau-flagged oil tanker MT Honour was seized by Somali pirates in late April while traveling toward Mogadishu, about 30 nautical miles from Somalia’s coast. The vessel had 17 crew members on board, including 10 Pakistani nationals.
The final three Pakistani survivors have now been rescued and transported to Addis Ababa, accompanied by representatives from the Pakistani Embassy in Djibouti, according to Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
They are scheduled to travel from the Ethiopian capital to Karachi on the first available Ethiopian Airlines flight on Wednesday, he added.
Four other Pakistani crew members were freed in late September, more than five months after the vessel was hijacked.
They reached Karachi on Sunday on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa.
Three Pakistani crew members lost their lives during the incident, and their remains have also been returned to Pakistan.
